Outreach Coordinator

Summary:

The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all community outreach initiatives and
activities for Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dartmouth. This position will support the Parish
Leadership Team to develop and implement initiatives that increase the church’s visibility as a
compassionate witness to the Gospel within the surrounding community.

 

The key goal of this position is to establish lay-led ministries to provide an outward and visible
sign of the compassion the Church has for all, by identifying opportunities and recruiting
volunteers to meet these identifiable needs.

 

This position will rely on coordinating and supporting volunteers, from the parish and the broader community, who in turn lead and support the various outreach activities.

Duties & Responsibilities:


According to the purpose of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, the following are the key
responsibilities of this position:

  • Develop a strategic plan so to identify and work with potential outreach opportunities within the parish boundaries.

  • Coordinate and support the growth of existing efforts.

  • Facilitate the ongoing life of the House of Hope.

  • Coordinate the financial and volunteer resources needed to implement the strategic plan once approved by the Parish Leadership Team.

  • Liaise with current outreach ministry partners.

  • Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, and other opportunities.

  • Prepare an annual budget for community outreach activities, along with records and reports to keep the Parish Leadership Team informed.

  • To coordinate and implement Alpha as an evangelistic outreach to those on the margins

  • Coordinate the effort of lay-leaders of each initiative.

  • To facilitate parishioners being involved in community advocacy.

  • Nurture new and old relationships with community partners.

  • Create opportunities to provoke donor interest.

  • Coordinate an annual volunteer appreciation event.

  • Communication of outreach activities on all media platforms.

 

Position Relationships:

The Outreach Coordinator has considerable scope for innovation and creativity in all aspects of
the position within the context of the vision and mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe parish. This
position will be supported by the Pastor.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to the missionary vision of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth

  • Successfully satisfy the requirements of the Archdiocesan Responsible Ministry Protocols and pass the vulnerable persons background check.

  • Be adherent to the Faith of the Roman Catholic Church and be prepared to act as a role model for the parish in working toward the mission of the parish.

  • Proven experience competently using computer technologies, including social media, along with other communications programs.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ proven track record demonstrating creative problem-solving abilities.

  • Proven experience working collaboratively and cooperatively in team settings to accomplish goals.

  • Demonstrated above average written and oral communications skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work well in a multi-task environment.
